The Town 'N Country Youth Council and Town 'N Country Garden Circle teamed up to spruce up Webb Middle School and TNC Elementary Schools for opening day next Tuesday when children return to school.

Webb principal Marco Murillo wanted to cover up this ugly chain link fence (back left) in the atrium.

Tuesday, August 17 the 4 YC teens started planting 16 creeping fig plants by the atrium fence. Gina is placing potting soil in a hoe for the crape myrtle.

The teens finished the job on Wednesday, August 18. Latrice is preparing a hole for the creeping fig.

In addition, the teens weeded the entire atrium area under the direction of the Town 'N Country Garden Circle.

The teens also received a lesson on propagation via cuttings of jacobina, a shade loving flowering plant. The teens planted 2 jacobina and took the rest home as a thank you from the garden circle

On Thursday 11 YC teens took their efforts to the Town 'N Country Elementary School. Shown here are Casie and Gabe re digging a hole for a 15 gal crape myrtle.

Sewer construction at the school damaged 2 crape myrtle. The contractor planted new crape myrtle to replace the damaged ones.

However, the trees were not planted properly. The YC teens replanted the trees, used potting soil, applied water and root hormone and mulched.

In addition, they elevated 13 crape myrtle, weeded, pruned ground cover, removed dead plants and mulched. Again under the direction of the garden circle.

As they have for the last 8 years the YC teens were up to the tasks assigned them. Even in sweltering heat.

What a legacy they leave for the community.
